Borrowed Light is an edition of black-dyed prints on abaca paper. I decided to concinue my ongoing series called, disinfection series, which started from the onset of the quarantine in Metro Manila. Similar to the previous iterations of the said series, bleach solution is also used as a form of erasure for the prints. The recipients are instructed to use a bleach solution to remove the dye, revealing the image on the print. For this iteration, I wanted my work to resemble a postcard or greeting card to be sent to anyone who signed up in the mailing list. This is to, hopefully, evoke a feeling of connection between me and the receiver. Ultimately, I hope to extend this sense of familiarity to anyone who is able to see the image – both in print and in its actuality.
