10in x 11.5in; Found Textile, Needles, Thread; 2021

For the 2nd edition of Parcel Exhibitions, I was able to make a book of textiles using found fabric seamed as pages. It comes with a specific set of thread and needles to be used to fill the book with people's personal things. They may sew a range of things like a poem, a picture, colours, feelings, etc. The book gives its viewers an intimate space to become storytellers or their own personal historian by allowing them to sew the pages with the use of everyday objects that fit within the size of ones palm. This allows the viewers to meditate and interact with their immediate or distant surroundings.

Through the act of sewing, viewers are able to become introspective by communicating with their primitive self with the use of their hands. Whatever is sewn onto the pages, allows a conversation to build between its past, present and future viewers by holding intimate and personal conversations through their interpersonal interactions. Over time, the book starts to hold relationships between the viewers and the objects within while forming a bond with reality almost like an everlasting fingerprint.
